The Face In The Glass!
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day,
Just go to a mirror and look at yourself
And see what THAT face has to say.
For it isn't your father or mother or spouse
Whose judgment upon you must pass;
The person whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
Some people might think you are a straight-shootin' chum
And call you a wonderful guy or gal,
But the face in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look it straight in the eye.
That's the one you must please, never mind all the rest,
For that's the one with you clear up to the end.
And you know you have passed your most dangerous test
If the face in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life
And get pats on your back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you've cheated the face in the glass.

The Key To Real Happiness!
Dear Friend,
As you can see, this poem beautifully shows that being true to oneself is the most important key to real joy and happiness.
Let me share with you how this poem has impacted my life and how you can use it to improve yours.
I first came across this wonderful poem in 1993. Reading it opened up my eyes and forced me to examine and evaluate my life thoroughly.
While I was working in a "so-called" good job and doing a lot of the things I wanted to do at that time, I wasn't completely happy with my life.
This was because I knew I wasn't using my potential and pursuing my passion and dreams. Like most people, I was simply passing up time.
I followed this poem's advice and examined myself in a mirror – carefully and thoughtfully. After thinking about what I really wanted to do, to have,
and what kind of person I wanted to become, I knew I had to change for the better.
I realized that if I kept on doing what I had been doing, then I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror five years later and be proud of that person.
So from that moment on, I decided to develop my potential and make each day count, no matter what obstacles I may face.
Although I haven't achieved everything I desired, and the last ten years have been very challenging, I'm pleased with myself. This is because I had
spent more days doing the things I wanted to do, rather than doing the things I didn't.
What about you?
Like me, you may have also been through many challenges in the last several years? (Perhaps you’re facing enormous setbacks right now.)
What did you do?
What or who inspired you to go on when you felt like quitting?
A friend? A mentor? A teacher? A book? Maybe a good poem, such as the one above?
A Good Poem Can Change Your Life
If You Act On It's Wise Advice!
Every time I come across or face a roadblock that seems insurmountable, I would read "The Face In The Glass" (and other fabulous
poems and quotations displayed on this website). Doing so would inspire me to keep on keeping on no matter how difficult the task.
This poem can do the same for you. So I suggest you print it out and display it where you can see and read it regularly.
Let me assure you, if you’ll take the time to reflect on the wisdom and act on its advice, it will change your life for the better!
Set an appointment with yourself and spend at least an hour examining and evaluating the aspects of your life that are the most important to you.
In this quiet-time session, look at yourself in a mirror and ask whether you're happy with what you've done, with what you're doing, with what you're going to be doing,
and, most importantly, with the person you have become.
Even though this exercise may seem silly and too simple, believe me, it’ll give you revealing answers and insights to lead you on the path toward achieving your dreams and destiny.
Now, if you're already doing what you want to do and are traveling on your desired route, doing this exercise will re-confirm your vision.
When you do this exercise, you’ll learn that certain aspects of your life that are way below your potential, and you’ll realize you've settled
for less than you deserve.
For example, you may discover that your job, your health, or your relationship with your family members or friends isn’t as good as it could be.
Here's The Main Reason Most People Aren't Truly Happy And How You Can Avoid It!
One of the main reasons so many people are dissatisfied with their lives is they’re working in a job, a career, or a business that they don’t like, or even hate.
They're willing to put up with their unfulfilled job, career, or business because of the money. They're trading the most valuable commodity in life –
time – for money (usually for a very small amount) doing something they don't like or hate.
I understand these people need money to pay for their expenses and to look after their families.
The point I'm making is that if they don't like what they're doing, they have the power to change it. They have the ability to turn their lives around
and to achieve whatever they want by learning how to tap into their genius.
You also have the power to make your life any way you want and to achieve whatever goals and dreams you set for yourself.
You've been granted with the potential to live a compelling life. So when you look at yourself in the mirror ten, twenty, thirty, or forty
years from now, you can smile at that face and proudly say you've done your best each day, living your life according to your highest values and beliefs.
Wouldn’t you agree this is what true happiness is all about?
